Workshops, Lectures, and Demonstrations

MORNING SESSIONS

Hands-on Workshop*: Printmaking - Pressure Prints

Pressure printing is an experimental image-making technique by which a flexible plate (backing sheet) is placed behind the press sheet and run over an inked surface. A variety of textures and patterns can be achieved through experimentation with materials such as tape, cut/torn paper, fabric, lace, leaves, etc. The resulting image is similar to a rubbing though much more polished. Participants will create a collaborative print and leave with a set of new skills and ideas that they can use in future printing projects. *If possible, participants are asked to bring flat, non-abrasive materials to use as experimental collage tools for pressure printing.
