Ms. Melissa Hebert-Johnson joined the Art Department in 2017 as a Lecturer in Art History. Ms. Hebert-Johnson graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2002 with a Master’s Degree in Art History and a Graduate Certification in Women’s Studies. She has been teaching art appreciation and art history since 2003. Ms. Hebert-Johnson previously taught at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, IL and Black Hawk College in Moline, IL.

Ms. Hebert-Johnson’s current areas of reading and research interest include pre-modern women artists, pedagogy of art history, and gender and ethnicity in the museum. She teaches courses in art appreciation, modern and contemporary art, images of women and women artists, and African & African American artists.
