Susanne Howard is an Art Historian whose fields of expertise include the Italian Baroque and the ancient art of Greece and Rome.  She has earned a B.A. in Art (studio emphasis), B.S. in Elementary Education, M.A and PhD. in Art History.  Her research has been published in The Art Bulletin, Arte Veneta, Zeitschrift für Kunstgeschichte, Gazette des Beaux-Arts, Meitteilungen des Kunsthistorischen Institutes in Florenz, The Dictionary of Art, and The Encyclopedia of Italian Renaissance and Mannerist Art.  

After teaching for ten years at Utah State University, Professor Howard joined the Art Department at Columbus State University in January 2002.  During her career, she has taught all levels of art history courses including Art Appreciation, the sophomore art history survey courses, upper division courses pertaining to Greek and Roman Art and Architecture, Medieval Art and Architecture, Italian Renaissance Art and Architecture, and European Baroque Art and Architecture, a senior/graduate level research and writing course, and graduate seminars entitled the Classical Tradition in the Arts.
